1. Why are there different fees for those people who live outside of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties?
The East Bay Regional Park District receives most of its operating budget from Alameda and Contra Costa Counties' property taxes. Residents of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties pay into the operating fund of the Park District via these property taxes, so they get a discounted rate on Membership.
2. I work in Alameda or Contra Costa County, so can I pay the resident price for Membership?
No. Only those living in Alameda or Contra Costa County (i.e. residents) can pay the resident price for Membership.
3. Can I take a tax deduction when I buy Membership?
Basic Membership in either the Individual or Family category, as well as Donor Circle Memberships, is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. Angler Memberships, Membership Add-ons and Annual District Permits, are not tax-deductible. Additionally, any amount donated above the cost of your annual Membership is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
4. If I go to a park and it is temporarily closed for the day, can I get some of my Membership money back?
No. It is up to you to call ahead to check for possible park closures and limited fishing access. You can also visit www.ebparks.org/closure to view park closures online.
5. Is the purchase of Membership a charitable gift?
Basic Membership in either the Individual or Family category, as well as Donor Circle Memberships, is tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law.
